Holster for 5" S7W 686 Revolver

I have a Smith & Wesson 7-shot 686 revolver with a 5" barrel. Anyone know where I can locate a decent black holster for a decent price that'll fit the 5" barrel? Most holsters are made for the 2.5", 4" or 6" barrels.

This 5" barreled - 7 shot 686 is a brand new model...perhaps for this year. It was recommended to me by one of the gun shop employees that actually owns the same model. I was torn between a 4" & 6" barrel. He showed me the 5" and boy oh boy was it comfortable to hold. Great balance.

Anyway, I'm looking for a holster for it. I'm not a police officer or anything like that. I just need something for it to sit in on a belt for when the wife gets kinky. No, just kidding. I just wanted something to put it in the event I need a holster. Maybe a shoot out at high noon?

K and L frame holsters are interchangeable.

No matter where you go, there you are.

It should be phrased that "some" of the K & L frame holsters will interchange. It depends how "fitted" they are. The biggest hurdle is the full lug barrel. The actual frame size differences are not usually the problem. As for the 5" barrel fit, you may have to go with a 6" for now. The older K frame 5" holsters would have been for the old 5" model 10's. None of those would be sized to take the L frame barrel. Additionally, make sure you check the cylinder fit of the holster you are looking at. Some of the fitted holsters actually are fitted to the flutes of the cylinder. Your's being the 7 shot, may cause additional problems. The cylinder diameter is the same, but the flutes are spaced differently.

You may have to get a custom holster maker, for that 5" model. Try "FIST" Holster company, they have a websight and they are not real expensive.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that this model does have the thicker barrel. That may pose a problem. As well as the 7-shot cylinder.

You could always have a custom leather holster made for it. I recommend this dude first hand time and time again he does me right. www.10-32supply.com his name's Bobby Goza, tell him Lee Blackman sent ya, and he'll hook you up.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.
