22lr match designations .... regular and "B"

I know that the Federal Gold Metal match 22lr ammo is made in 2 types. There is a 40gr with part number xxx and then there is a 40gr with the same part number xxx but followed by a "B" (xxxB). I know that one is for a newer chamber and barrel and the other is for an older barrel and chamber which have been worn over the years.

Does anyone know which one is for newer barrels and chambers and which one is made for the older, more worn barrels and chambers.?

A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.

I very well may be wrong, but I thought brand B was for Handguns, and the other for rifles. To be sure call federal ammunition plant, you may have to use information to get the number. If I had my shooters Bible handy I would give you the no. maybe you have one. I hope this has been some help to you.

    Good Luck.
