ADVICE ON NEW GUN SAFE

Having finally come up with a few extra dollars I have decided now is the time to get that gun safe I always wanted before some burglar stumbles onto my collection.
I have no knowledge of what to look for or what factors to consider in looking/buying. I have seen Winchester and Browning standing gun safes at Gander Mountain and they look good, in the $1000 - $1400 range. What do you look for when you are getting a safe for both rifles and handguns? Do you have to worry about humidity inside a safe?
Please give any and all advice, it will be appreciated

I've read that some folks don't use a dehumidifier in their safes with no problems; I'd get one all the same, they're only ~$40.
Just my $.02
If you don't want to use a Goldenrod, a can of dessicant can be used, but you need to dry it in the oven regularly.
Don't forget, you can't put a safe DIRECTLY on concrete; the bottom will rust.

1) The safe says Winchester or Browning
2) It's at Gander Mountain
If you get a chance, check out some gunshows that have more than 1 person or company selling safes.
If you buy Browning or Winchester or any other "name" you will be paying for that name. Wasn't worth it to me.
Carefully evaluate the maximum size you think you will ever need, and then buy the next bigger size. Those darned guns seem to breed when you put them in a safe.....

What stings is I forgot to measure doorways and that would no doubt have been a huge mistake
I'm not interested in a name safe at all really, but I did see those at Gander Mountain and they were the size, quality interior and locking mechanism that I liked.
Was offered a $1500 safe at a Gunshow for $1050 about a year and a half ago, including delivery and setup, but just didn't have the money at that time. Still kicking myself over that one!
Does anyone have a specific recommendation as to a brand or dealer in NW Indiana?
thanks again.
