What is a DEMO mag?

I keep seeing Colt Demo mags for AR's being sold in Shotgun News. What are they?

I just wish I had a dollar for every gun I wanted, then I'd be a rich man.

A "demo" magazine would have rub marks on the finish from having been inserted in a gun, or possibly loaded and emptied without having been fired. You really can't call these "new", since most people would not expect to see ANY wear on a "new" mag.

Where do they come from? Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they were displayed at a show, maybe tried for fit at a dealer, maybe just handled a little too much in packing or shipping.

To my understanding a demo mag is one that sells reps have carried around as they ponder from gun shop to gun shop. I think these mags are way overpriced, but they are supposed to be the last preban non Law enforcement mags around. I see mere Glock Hi Caps than any other brand. As for Price I guess it is worth it as these mags disappear they will be no more. By the way most of these mags are guaranteed.

    Good Luck

Many of the places that sell "DEMO" mags are just using that term in place of "like new" or "hardly used". In the true sense of the word they should be salesman's samples and the like, but I would bet that most of them are just the better condition ones that the distributor received from a police department or other source. They aren't good enough to call new, but they want to get more money for them than the ones that they have that are "well" used, hence "demo" magazines.

IMHO, new is new, never loaded, never inserted, never shot.
Demo is still used because at least one of the three happened to it.
Guess it's just a sales gimmick also to get more for a used mag. I would just call it excellent. GD
