i know there is a one month period after buying a handgun or assault weapon until you can buy another(i am waiting to get collector status which will waive that). i had heard that it is possible to buy two without the month period but you have to do some paperwork saying that you will wait 60 days until another purchase....i was wondering if anyone knew if this is true and if i do this and then get my collectors status does the 60 days still apply to me.
p.s. i don't know if this matters but i am a MD resident.
thanks,

The good news is that there is currently no federal one-gun-per-month rule. I believe that what you are referring to is Form 3310.4 Report of Multiple Sale or Other Disposition of Pistols and Revolvers, which a dealer must complete if you buy >1 handgun within a 5 business day period. Since a federal data bank of gun purchases is (supposedly) prohibited by law, there would be no way for the federal govt to know if most people exceeded that number by buying handguns from multiple dealers or individuals.
The bad news is, a C&R isn't going to make things easier for you. As a Maryland resident, state law requires that your acquisition of all C&R handguns be approved by the state police. And, handguns and assault weapons are subject to the one-gun-per-month law in Maryland.
The worse news is, when Kathleen Kennedy Townsend is elected the next governor of Maryland, one-gun-per-month will be extended to ALL guns. And, that's just for starters.
