The large mag.s for 98 mausers were developed during WWII for the Germany Army figthing on the Russian front. The Russians had a nasity habit of charging in close to the Germany line (especially during the -20 deg. winters). The Russians armed with their PSH machine guns and 30 rd. mags. or 50 rd.s drum mag.s put out alot of fire power! The Germans found dealing with 5 rd. bolt actions, plus gloves, winter clothing, and figthing conditions in a COOL winter to be ...LIMITING! Hence the development of their 20 rd. mag.s . Construction is normally good. Attachment to the weapon is alittle clumsy. HOPE this helps!!? ...Mark
