Rifle Value....Browning BAR

I have an opportunity to purchase a Belgium made (1971) BAR in .300 Win Mag. It is a Grade II model in 98 - 99% condition with a period Weaver scope (3x9x40 I think). Included is a period Browning rifle lockable case, literature for the rifle and two partial boxes of ammo. I have been looking to find a rifle that I can use (down the road) for a northern Canada bear hunt and western hunts for longer distance shots. I thinkn the .300 Win Mag will be the right caliber, and I am confident that the rifle will be the right rifle.
In the event I made the purchase, better optics would be a "given".
My question is not related to the caliber and it;s ability to hunt out west or bear. The question I have is will $1000 be a decent price for the rifle listed above.
EDIT #1
Unless I overlooked them, there are no Browning hard cases for sale with similar sifles. To me, that item and the paperwork is "key" with the sale of this item.
Thanks,
Aaron
