this is a 12 gauge 2 3/4 all original, and I was curious, if a model 1100 slug barrel ( 2 3/4")would adapt to this receiver without any modifications, after a brief google search, Did not find any helpful info. Would pressure from high velocity slugs, like hornady sst's or equal be good for this rifle? thanks much

As far as pressure goes, I would think any commercially produced 12ga load or proper length or shorter would work as they all loaded to be within SAAMI specs.

I believe the Remington Mohawk 48 shotguns were recoil operated, basically a updated version of their Model 11. The 1100's on the other hand were gas operated with bleed holes in the barrel for the gas operation. Doubtful that 48 & 1100 barrels would interchange.

The long recoil mechanism of the early Remington's always seemed to me to be harder shooting, then the gas operated 1100's specially with hot loaded shells like slug loads.

If I were you I would test fire the 48 with some slug loads, to see how you like it before putting any money into it for a slug barrel. You might be way more happy with a gas operated 1100.

    1100 barrel would NOT fit a 48.
