Need help on a price

I have a dughter, no yet old enough to know what a gun is, and nephews, who are ready to start shooting. My grandfather broke me in on a double barrel 410 and it was wonderful. My uncle will not part with it, and so I am preparing the wife for another member of the family, how much should I tell her I expect to spend? I know I haven't provided a great amount of detail about the gun, such as brand or year. I just want a reliable and easy shooting gun for the kids to use.

Your starting in the right place. Cruise around on GB and check out the prices. This should give you a good starting point on setting a price. Note: if your wife is not a "gun person", jack up the price a couple hundred and then you can be the Hero, when she finds out what you really bought it for.Good luck, Ken

I have always felt a good starter shot gun is a .410 ga. single shot. For the price (around $80.00) New England firearms makes a great little shotgun.

Thanks for the help, and sorry about all the typos in the first post. I have searched, and obviously, not very well, to find the new england prices on line. Does anyone have a link that might work?

Are you only looking for a shotgun? I think a nice .22 LR makes a good starter gun too. Either single shot or bolt action.

I used the dept manager at the sporting goods dept at Wal-Mart several years ago, and they carried that gun. New England arms, Single shot. The price was about $79 for either 410, 16, or 12 guage. you might want to check there.also...I found this auction here on GB.Item #2839031Good luck.Alex

Thanks for the link, that is exactly what I am looking for. I'm going to try Wal-Mart before I make a bid. I want the shot-gun so I can use it rabbit hunting as well as for the kids.

any time...if they don't have it, you might want to see if they can order it. they can usually get a large variety firearms they don't readily carry.Alex

I've also been eyeing the new Rossi with interchangable .22/.410 barrels. Looks like it would be a good first gun. I think they make it in stainless too.WOODS
