I am starting to get into cowboy action shooting. I was wondering if anybody has recomendations for guns. I need a lever action. I was looking at model 1892 in 45 LC. And pistols in 45 LC. Does anybody have suggestions what brand to get that is reliable. I want to get ruger vaqueros but if not rugers what else. Also something affordable.
Thanks

Anyone have any experience with the cowboy action shooting? What are your opinions? What do I have to do to get involved? Is there an assosciation that I have to join?

    Recommendations for revolver.
I would like to get a Colt SAA, but I have seen other clones and Colt Cowboy available for less $$$.
What is your impression of the USFA SA revolvers, AWA SA revolvers, and the Colt COwboy?

A buddy of mine took me to a cowboy match around 3 years ago. All I took was a Ruger new model blackhawk. many guns and a couple of carts later still shoot and lovin it. The bunch I shoot with has got to be 1 of the best. Show up at a match and you will get to shoot anything you want to see and compare. I know some are cliches but most are not. Basics are a shotgun double barrel no ejectors allowed, or hammered pump shotgun. 2 but depending on local club maybe only 1 pistol to start. and a lever action rifle in a pistol caliber. Give it a try I believe you will like. ps- you will need a handle

when i started shootin' CAS i went out with just a blackhawk andthe people at the shoot made sure that i had more fun than i ever had at a range.cliches at some clubs but not the norm. well worth tryin check out the site sass.com or ask at your local gun store or range. if you like the old west you'll have a blast at a "shoot" no pun intended.
