a friend was involved in a salvage op and came upon a pistol which he described as a single shot, breakdown barrel, dated in the 1900's (i forgot the exact date - 1907 maybe?)with a mfg. name of c.*. hamilton and sons. i couldn't even find the mfg. in the gun books i have available. any info would be appreciated.

I also could find nothing with the information given. You'll have to re-examine the piece and give us the full description, including the mfg.'s address if possible (like: Hartford, Conn., USA),and any other inscriptions. I recall there was a Hamilton Rifle Co. that made .22 rifles in the early 1900s and there may be a connection.
