Savage model 30

I bought a Savage model 30 cheap and I want to refinish the stock.How do I remove the forend from this pump?

    Easier said than done. There is no special wrench. The forend cap nut unscrews counter-clockwise from the front. You have to use some non-marring tool like a nylon drift or wooden dowel and hammer to start it, then unscrew it by hand. If it's rusted in, it is a b*tch.Good luck.

    Thanks for the response.So I'm not that stupid! It's not rusted, it's just exceptionally tight and otherwise not obvious how to take it apart...
