Sav Mod5, unusual stock???

Have an old Model 5 .22 with a stock like I've never seen before. This gun has a dark walnut stock with light birch(?) diamond shaped inlays on each side of the forearm and each side of the but stock. This was my granfathers gun and he was a 3 gun farmer, so I have no reason to believe that he had it customized.
