I've happened across a side by side 12 GA. shotgun. Says Pat. 1915 and Chicopee Falls, Mass. No hammers. Anybody know what it is?

Riverside Arms Company was the trade name that the J. Stevens Arms & Tool Company used of various types of "hardware" store firearms.Does the barrels have "small tiger-stripes" running around them??? They are usually more visible underneath the forearm.

Yes, looks like circular, non precision marks. DO I smell Damascus? The previous owner hunted with it. I'll find out what ammo he used. Approx. value? hehe

    1. If you can see the circular "tiger-stripes" then it is Damascus.2. It really should be checked out by a gunsmith that has the fiberoptic equiment to see if there is any delamination evident INSIDE the barrels. If there is any evidence of delamination it needs to become a "wall-hanger" and not a shooter.3. The presssure curve of blackpowder shotshells and modern smokeless powder shotshells is completely different. Your going to hear that you can use "low-brass" game loads. Not so. Eventually they will cause damage to the shotgun due to the difference in the pressure curve. No-it won't blow up in your face, but eventually such smokeless loadings will damage the shotgun.4. A safe "Cowboy Action" loading is available from L.A. Outdoors in Enterprise, Alabama. Their telephone number is (334) 347-6909.5. What the "books" say it is worth and what you can actually get for it is two different things. The books say that a model 215 or model 315 Riverside has a value of $350, but if you put it up for auction on this site it would not sell at that price.
