Beretta vs. Ruger

Which would you recommend for tactical shooting, the Beretta (Model 92) or the Ruger (any of the 9mm models)? Something else?

    Hello I have the beretta 92, and Ruger p95. Both have been flawless with about 700 rnds in each. The ruger is a plastic frame and is very slide heavy( with out a loaded mag in, loaded it is very well balanced). The barrel is shorter, so the groups tend to open up a little.The beretta is well ballanced loaded or unloaded. With a longer barrel the groups are tighter. also you can get a laser grip from crimsontrace. this will make the groups one hole (almost) Both guns have hicaps available. go with what fits your hand better. However the beretta feels like a higher quality machine. also you can get two rugers for the price of one beretta

    MY P94 HAS HELD UP VERY WELL 8-9K RNDS. IT DOES FEEL UNBALANCED WITH AN EMPTY MAG, BUT YOU ARENT GOING TO SHOOT IT WITHOUT AMMO. THREE DOT SIGHTS LINE UP REAL QUICK. WITH PRACTICE I HAVE 1" GROUPS AT 50 FEET, AS LONG AS I HAVENT HAD TOO MUCH CAFFEIN.

    I bought a Ruger P89 about a year ago. ABout 4k rounds later it still has not had one malfunction. Yes, it does not have the same feel as a glock or beretta, but after some practice you won't even notice. Sprucing it up will help. I bought Hogue grips for the p85/89 ($12), mepro night sights ($63), and a factory hi-cap ($50). A P89 with all that will still cost less than a basic model Beretta 92.

    Only comment I have is if you are ever going to sell the handgun stay with the Beretta. Resale has always been much higher and always will be!

    for what its worth you can get the ruger for at least 100$ less than the beretta{in some cases more}

    Bill Ruger supported (in fact, promoted) the restriction on high-cap mags. Ruger is as big a sell-out as Smith or Colt in my book. I will not buy any newer Ruger. And Dano got it right, Ruger is not near the the gun Beretta is.

    Which is better, a John Deere or Farmall? I own both and have yet to find out why one may be better than the other. I own both Beretta and Ruger in various models and have nothing bad to say about either after thousands+ rounds. Personally, I like the Rugers and Farmalls best. What ever works best for you-test drive before you buy-the only opinion that counts about you tools is your own.
    Pack slow, fall stable, pull high, hit dead center.
