Model 94 serial number

I have a model 94 serial number 278xxxx. I would like to know the year that it was built? Also could somebody recommend a good Winchester reference book that would cover shotguns and rifles? Gentlemen: According to the serial no. list in the Blue Book, #278xxxx was made in 1964, and #2066132 was made in 1954.

I would say that your 94 was made around '65 or '66 since 2699999and below were pre-'64. Someone else can tell you more. Reference books seem pretty hard to find and damn expensive. Flayder's is good for antique guns and Fjestads is not bad for modern gun values. Scan this auction site for others.
