Does anyone else still shoot any of these old H&R and Iver Johnson's Breaktops and solid frames? Being made at the turn of the century they were made for black powder. Have shot several that were in super good condition with loaded with Win. factory S&W 32 no problems.

I do. My dad does. We have an Iver Johnson break open, a Hopkins and Allen Break Open, and two H&R pull pin revolvers. Have fired both blackpowder and factory out fo all and all work fine. I also have an Iver Johnson DA 1900 .22 that shoots fine, though I only use Standard Velocity or CB caps in it.

I have a Hopkins and Allen Safety Police that has a novel sturdy locking latch. Since it has a bored through cylinder I used some lightly loaded 32S&W equivalent 32Longs.Modern 32S&W loads were made taking into account the many ancient revolvers out there.Note, there are no modern 32S&W revolvers .This is not true for the .22 where only light target loads should be used.I would stick with black powder in the older spur trigger guns and use full case lengthCB caps for 22cal. Years ago,I recall seeingold 22 rifles with the rear half of their chambers bulged from extensive use of shorts and the old BBcaps and CBcaps. As a 12 year old I got hold of a Thames 38S&Wtop break and some 38Super ammo. The latch blew off at the second shot and the cylinder ejected. After wiring it closed, I got caught after the sixth shot.
