I've developed a yen for one of the new Schofield revolvers from Smith & Wesson. They are listed as caliber 45 S&W. Is this ammo readily available? My cartridge reference says that it's a shorter version of the 45 Colt but I don't see it advertised on any of the sites. Thanks

I don't think anybody loads .45 S&W anymore. You can make your own by trimming .45 Colt cases from 1.29 down to 1.10 and loading to an OAL of 1.43.The old Schofield's were black powder revolvers and wouldn't take a modern-pressure loading.I have no idea what a newly manufactured Schofield would handle.

Thanks for the info. Now I need to find out if I can even buy one in Krazy Kalifornia.
