A few years ago I saw an ad for a Special Operations Group Vietnam Commemorative 1911 style .45 pistol. Does anyone know anything about these weapons; their availability and/or value ?Thanks,Jim

if memory serves, most of those commemorative series 1911's were made by Auto Ordnance, which is about the worst brand on the market as far as function and quality is concerned. The engraving and markings may have sentimental value to those who served in a unit or theater, but the pistols themselves are not that great.I brought one in for a fellow that served in the Navy during Vietnam. Nicely marked, but marginal as a weapon. I think he paid about $600 for it, which represents about $300 worth of pistol and $300 worth of sentiment and profit.
