Hi i was wondering if anyone knew if the Saiga-12 was avaible with the standard military pistol grip and fixed stock (ala the Ak-74) or if that is somehow illegal now since the assualt-type rifle ban?thanks BuckP.s Anyone know where one of this style could be found?

Thinking about leaning into one of these Russian shotguns? Can anyone assist in the direction that will save me the most money? I like the AK action. THanks for any help Mike

I'd like a SAIGA 12 guage, but I live in Connecticut. The Assault Weapons ban here lists specific models of weapons including Street Sweepers and the USAS-12, as well as a vague listing of "AK-47-type". Since a shotgun is not a rifle, is it only wishful-thinking on my part that their definition does not include the SAIGA shotguns, or am I on a fast track to becoming a felon?

If anyone knows where I can go to get a definitive answer I would really appreciate it. The other possibility is considering another magazine-fed 12 guage since there is no reference in the law. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Fitz

The stock set you mentioned would be an assult rifle/shot gun and banned. You can find the stock set for sale at various auction sites.

Are there hi caps available for the Saiga? If not wouldn't it be legal to add the pistol grip because it can't be an "assault weapon" without the possibility of detachable hi cap mags. Does it already have any "evil features"?

The trigger group on the Saiga's are moved back to make them reachable from the sporter stock--you cannot "bolt" a regular AK pistol-grip stock on them, irregardless of the "legal" question.Saiga does sell, to law enforcement only, a version of their 12 guage with an 18.5 in. barrel (shorter too if the dept. wants to do the paperwork), pistol grip and folding stock. Ten round magazines are available to law enforcement too.Five round mags. are the maximum legal for civilian Saiga 12 owners. The '94 "Crime Bill" really did not address shotguns, which are not considered "assault rifles", but there are still a lot of regulations governing them--especially on something like the Saiga which can be governed under import regulations too.[This message has been edited by competentone (edited 02-23-2002).]

Thanks for the infoIts too bad that you cant easily get one with the original style stocks i really dont care for the sporter style. Would you have to get a class III liscence to get one? as i am not in a law enforcement agency. I have heard the 8 and ten round mags are avaible to law enforcement only. Id like to find out more but thanks for now,i might send an email to kalashnikov USA. thanks againBuck
