Standard Arms Co. Model H(?)

A friend has aquired a 1910 .30 caliber, slide action rifle with a low serial #. He believes it is a model H. It has a very fancy brass butt-plate and slide grip. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

    Standard Arms wasn't around for long, less than 10 years I think. Their model G was an Auto, and a pump, depending upon whether the gas port was open or closed. The pump model only was a model M. The 30 cal you mention was .30Remington (or perhaps a 30-30). This was the 1st commercial gas autoloader in the US (c1910). You see these arms at gunshows in Minnesota all the time. No collector interest. They have a reputation as being unsafe. However, they really look nice.

    The ones I had were very well engineered from all pointsd except the sidewalls of the action.The slightest bump could and would dent them and then all hell had to be dug up to straighten them out.The Bronze butt plate and fore grip was a real nice kicker for class.Very simple take down.I'd have one today except for those sidewalls.
