Am looking for info [history, age, value, etc] on a military bolt rifle. Markings are MAS Mle 16. Caliber is larger than 30. Thanks in advance for any help.

When you say MAS, most would probably think of the MAS 7.5 series, but since you say it is stamped MAS 16, larger than .30 cal, I suspect you have either an 8mm Lebel, or the very similar 8mm Lebel-Berthier. What is overall length? Does it have a tubular magazine running the length of the barrel, or a standard magazine in the rear of the gun?

Sounds like a Berthier 1892 or 92/16 in 8mmlebel. Try www.milsurpshooter.net or www.gunsworld.com for some pictures. Just a warning. Unless it has an N stamped on the receiver it has not been pressure tested for modern ammo. Original ammo had a charge of 38gr whereas modern ammo of 44gr was designed for a belt fed machine gun. Just guessing on id. without more info.
