I have a question about the so called non-detachable magazine on my Russian SKS.Several years ago I bought an aftermarket magazine for my SKS (expanded capacity). Now I want to put the original back on but I lost the instructions and can't seem to get it to stay in the magazine well. I'm not doing something correctly. Does any one know the steps?? Appreciate the help.

Put the gun on safe and find the little round-shaped nipple with an indentation in the midde, just behind the trigger assembly. Push this in with a punch, screwdriver whatever you have. Give it a good whack and this should pop off the trigger assembly. Insert your mag, duckbill side first, into the well. Push it up at an angle so that the duckbill hooks on the metal of the barrel assembly. If your mag falls out from the duckbill side, this is your problem. You aren't pushing it up far enough. After making sure that the mag is correctly latched, seat the mag all the way down, making sure that the bolt is held open. Pop your trigger assembly back on and you're done. Hope this helps.[This message has been edited by mmakein (edited 02-26-2002).]
