I have a chance to buy of .25-06 for a good price. I really was looking more for a .223,22-250 or 243 but the price is right. I will use the rifle for general shooting and coyotes. Will someone giv me some imput on the .25-60, and whether I can make it work for me.
Thanks,
dchristian

You can't go wrong with the 25-06 for up thru deer size game. If you reload there are a lot of varmit weight bullets and everyone has a couple of pet loads they would share. If you are not a reloader I'm sure you can find almost anything you want from one of the manufactur's out there. Don't just shop price be satisfied that the rifle you are buying is something that you would want. Good Luck.

The 25.06 is a great caliber and can be very flexible for reloaders. Factory ammo is available but a bit limited. Might be overkill for smaller varmints but if you hit a coyote with it it will be graveyard dead.

If people were forced to keep only one rifle, but it had to suit a number of needs, you'd see a whole lot of 25-06's out there. As stated, a little over kill for the smaller varmints, but is at home in the deer stand as well. Great caliber, and handloading really makes it shine.

My sons and myself own three--there is not another centerfire rifle caliber in the house, because you can't find a better caliber for long range shooting from groundhogs up to and including deer. My pet varmit load is 54.7 gr of 4350 behind a 90 gr Speer HPBT--gives 3471fps at the muzzle. My gun is zeroed 3" high at 100 yds--I am in the kill zone (6") from the muzzle to about 275 yds. None of us have ever had a deer step out of its tracks when hit with 100 or 117 gr. factory loads--in short, you have selected the ultimate! (Do I sound a little biased?)

Well i bought a 25-06 & was wondering what everybody was using for a scope? What size?I will be shooting up to 500yds & was thinking of buying a Zeiss 4-14x44 rifle scope.Do you think that would be a good scope to get? Thanks Hunter

You top off a good 25-06 with that Zeiss and you,ve got a pkg. that will ruin a lot of Coy dogs days. You'll really appreciate the 25 when the wind is up. Build up a load with 115 gr. Nosler or try Rem. 122 gr Extended range ammo and you won't have half the trouble with the wind that you would with a 22-250... Have fun.........
