I bought this gun for $50.00 which is a good buy. But my question is it has the standard 10 closed clip non detachable. I wanted to know if I could get an extended clip for it and would it work.My second question is it possible to make it a fully and how.

can anybody help?

I have a SKS I'd like to find out the value of, looking to sale it. As you see in the title it's a Chinese SKS. I inherited this one from my father. He had never shot it, I remember when he bought it, it still had the cosmoline (I think they call it) on it. I have shot it,twice I think... less then 100 rounds. Then of course cleaned. It has one little gig, around the bolt that holds the stock on. Other then that, it's pretty much like new. Any guesses?? Thanks.

There are several aftermarket methods to attach a 30-rd magazine to the SKS. Some are better than others. They are all over the internet, a simple search should turn up a selection.

There is no legal way to make your rifle fully automatic.

The removable SKS mags usually suck. Lots of jams. Best to stick with the fixed 10 round and use stripper clips to load it, or get a fixed 20 round mag (and use stripper clips). You can load a fixed mag via stripper clips very quickly.

I also have a norinco chineese sks. My experiance with the mags are that they do jam alot. All but one of my mags jam, so I just keep it in and use stripper clips for easy reloads. They are fairly simple to put in.

Put the safty on and behind the trigger assy. there is a button. Press it in, it may be a little tough to press in. Then the trigger assy. will drop out. After you remove the trigger assy., pull the fixed mag out. You might have to jiggle it a little to get it to release. Then put the trigger assy. back in. Make sure the button is clipped back in propperly. You will then be ready for the mags to be put in. Make sure your bolt is back or it wont go in. Also, I have found that the mags are a pain to get in sometimes when the are loded. That is why I use stripper clips, so I dont have mess with it.

To make it a "fully", I suggest to purchase an AV IV from GB. I have never used one before so if you decide to get one, let me know how it works. I think that is the only way to make it leagle because there is no mods to the rifle.

    Hope this helps.

AS STATED, STAY WITH THE 10 OR 20 RND FIXED MAG. STRIPPERS ARE VERY EASY TO USE. I BOUGHT SEVERAL DETACHABLE MAGS, BUT THEY ALL SUCKED. I FOUND THE FIXED MAG EASIER AND VERY DEPENDABLE. MOST PEOPLE I KNOW END UP GOING BACK TO FIXED. AS FAR AS FULL AUTO, I DUNNO, SO SORRY. GD

I have only one advice. Do not waste money on detachable magazine you will have only headache with it. Some maybe disagree with me, but it was my experience.

Yep, trouble. If you must have one in higher capacity,
get the "D" Model, it accepts AK magazines. LTS

becareful when asking people about converting guns. you can get misleading information that could blow up in your face. also since it is illegal, alot of boards will ban you for requesting such info. there are sites dedicated to showing people how to make full auto conversions, but it's dangerous and misleading, stay away, far, far, away. good luck finding a good mag. i would suggest buying an ak or something if you just want to go and blow off ammo and have fun. the mags are generally more reliable as far as hi-cap goes. well, that's all i have for you. cody

Cobray used to make a nice conversion for the sks I bought mine with the 30 rnd. and five rnd mags. It required drilling and taping a hole to convert the mag well to except the detachable mags. It also came with an oversize mag release to facilate easy removal of mags.
I have fired over 1000 rounds without the mags jamming up.
Cobray had these made of Zytel and they go in and out like warm butter on hot bread. The thirty rounder actually holds 37 rnds.
Cobray was forced by law to stop manufacturing them when the Clinton gang band HI CAP. mags.
If you can find the Cobray mag buy it but make sure you get the complete kit with it. Also being made of Zytel there is no rusting or sharp edges to get cut up on.

The conversion that 1FMJ refers to has been discontinued for a long time. I'm glad to hear that his works. Other people bought the same kit and ruined their guns. The first kits had you drill into the stock to attach the system. Unfortunately the stock could shift and cause the mags not to feed. The later system had you drill into the bottom of the barrel, yes the barrel. The instructions clearly stated where and how deep to drill. What they neglected to mention was the difference between the pinned in barrels and the scewed in barrels. The pinned in ones had thinner chamber walls. When people drilled and tapped to the designated depth, they left so little metal that one round fired through the gun would complete the hole into the chamber, blow the entire assembly out of the gun and ruin the rifle for use. All in one swift movement. Without replacing the barrel, the gun was then worthless.

That company did use the same style zytel mag with the adapter attached to the mag itself, just like the USA, Western, etc. metal ones, and it is still available. Opinions vary as to the reliability of those as well. The tolarences of the different SKS's makes it very difficult for the aftermarket manufacturers to make just one size fit all. If you must have a larger magazine try using the ones that do not permanently alter your gun. So if they don't work, you can always just replace the 10rd magazine and at least still have a functional gun.

I hate to sound trite, but leave the gun as is. You'll have a lot more fun with it. I've got just about every accessory imaginable for my SKS's and have gotten everything to work (the extended clips). However, I've always ended up putting all the stock stuff back on.
