You want bullets are ammunition? If it is for the 5mm Rem rimfire ammo can be had for about $60.-$70. per box of 50. If you want BULLETS Hornaday & Berger both make a .20 cal bullet. Mike Craig also has several different bullets for sale. His phone number is
    1-206-527-8532.
I also suggest you clean up your profile. Not really funny.

Good luck its very hard to find in large amounts, and very expensive. The 5mm was av excellent round it seems someone would start producing it in large amounts. An associate of mine has a 5mm and two boxes of shells, he inherited it from his father. And I guess its been 15yrs.And he still has the gun and two boxes of reloaded shells. Seems like a shame to me.

I'm supprised someone has not come up with a centerfire conversion for this gun. Though I'm not that familiar with the cartridge or guns for it I would think making a centerfire bolt for existing rifles would be relatively easy and with all the various cartridges available there must be something that comes close enough that brass could be formed.

The CF conversion has been around for many years. I don't have the details, but it is an outfit (this Craig fellow?) in Kalifornia and I've seen several posts providing that info over the past few years which will be offered, I'm sure, if someone posts that specific question.

Ammo is expensive as noted. However, Old West Scrounger is taking advance orders against a custom run to be done this fall. The price of that ammo will run something on the order of $20 / 50.

And, eater, I concur w/ Mballistic - please change the user name; it is out of sync w/ this site.

Mike Craig is in Seattle. I left his number on a previous message. Cost to convert the bolt is $79.00. The Scrounger has been promising ammo for a couple of years. haven't seen it yet. I went with the Craig conversion. There is another conversion by Shroeder( not sure of spelling. RCBS dies from Craig or $70.00, brass is $60. per hundred. Brass is actually machined. Fun stuff.

sorry guys, it's this or shoottill. I had to start a new e-mail acc. just to get this name. Not to be rude but Mballistic wanted me to change my PROFILE, not my name. I changed my name the first time cus it was in everyones face, but you have to go to my profile, it is not in your face. I will change name but you have to give me a new one!

If you look at the auctions, a box of 5mm shows up every
now and then and usually runs a $1 or so a round! I'd be
careful with this kind of purchase, I bought a box for
-get this- $80 bucks and found about a 1/4 of the 50
rds covered with green corrosion. I don't shoot corroded
ammo, luckily, the seller was a good guy and refunded
    the difference.

Steve Schroeder out of San Diego sells a conversion kit for
$125 bucks, basically you knock out the bolt head pin and slip
his on. Comes with a 'go'-'no go' gauge that you send back for
$20. Steve also sells brass, dies, bullets, and most importantly,
he answers your questions and gives out friendly tips.

Steve also relayed info regarding two individuals that make and
sell reloaded 5mm CF ammo. I don't recall their names but I'm
sure Steve will hook you up.

As for Mr. Craig and his $79 conversion, it's a dead issue in
my opinion. I've had returned letters and email from the guy,
apparently he doesn't exist or is selective about who he talks
    to. Caveat Emptor (Buyer Beware).

The Old Western Scrounger, well- I don't know what to say. I
contacted them for a box of 5mm, and they told me that their
business venture with Aguilar 'ammo manufacturer' out of Mexico
fell through. Apparently, Aguilar wanted to do a run of 5mm at
5 million rounds, not the 1 million the Scrounger wanted. This was
about six mos ago, and I still see them taking orders for this
    mythical run of 5mm ammo.

My opinion is that the new .17 HMR probably nailed the 5mm's
coffin for good. However, I'd like to be the optimist and think
that it will stay around as long as their are reloaders and fans
of the 5mm. I say fan because the .22 magnum and .17 HRM are
cleaning the 5mm's clock in terms of performance and to some
    extent, accuracy.

eater, your email acct need not use the same name as your user name here, nor on most forums. I use "Iconoclast" virtually everywhere as a user name, but it appears in none of my email addresses. I'm sure you can create a name with meaning for yourself or encompassing your interests / beliefs / personality w/o someone else making suggestions.

In defense of Mike craig he returned ALL of my phone calls. He told me it would take 3-5 weeks to alter the bolt. I had it back in less than three. Rifle shoots great, no problems.

I have not had any problems with Mr. Craig or his conversion. I got an extra bolt for mine and had the conversion done to it. Now I can shoot my reloads and also be prepared if new rimfire shows up. As for ballistics, I don't see how a 38 gr. bullet at 2050 fps could get its clock cleaned by a 17 grainer. Based on what I have seen in the posts on several forums lately, the new HMR may actually be INCREASING interest in the old 5mm. I'm also guessing however that there has already been more ammo and rifles made for the new 17 than all 5mm's ever produced. Product pushing is also more advanced than 30 years ago.
