I got a Smith and Wesson 4043 in 40. cal. DOA. Is it posible to convert this pistol to both single and double action, if so who can do it and what is the cost. I would like some advise. Thanks

I believe that this could be done, as the major difference between your pistol and the 4006 is the lockwork. The variable is the labor that a knowledgeable gunsmith would charge, so quoting a price is difficult. I don't believe that you would get the factory to perform this modification for reasons of liability, as the pistol would still be marked as a 4043 and subsequent owners would expect it to perform as one. Why not sell the 4043 and purchase a 4006, all of which can be done on Gunbroker.com?

Unless you are attached to the gun for one reason or another. I believe I would go with the model 4006.

    Good Luck.
