Making that conversion will certainly destroy any collector value the rifle has, and you will gain little. mhcadoct is correct, the .300 Savage is a great round, far superior to .30-30.

Savage 99's in 300 savage are very desirable. I would do is see if you can't find a good used one already chambered for the 358 win. I recently picked one up in 358 in a trade, and I figure I have about 400.00 in it. You can pay up to about 800.00 for one.
If you're looking for just a shooter, you should be able to find one for a lot less than that.
You figure, by the time you rebarrel that, figuring the cost of a barrel, labor, and such, for a little more money you could have another gun.
