I currently have a post ban Bushmaster A3 20 HBar. I am looking for a Preban 16"
Is there any thing I should know when buying one... Such as
Is a Essential Arms just as good as a Bushmaster or Colt... Is there anyone I should stay any from....
What should I expect to spend $1300 to $1500 more or less???
Let me know

Just my advice.

While Mr. Blackman may be right, and I hope he is although I will lose thousands of dollars in value from my collection if he is, even if the ban ends, I still think the "pre-ban" guns will be worth a lot. For instance, my early first year AR-15 is quite a bit more than one made ten years later.
I wish I could share Mr. Blackman's optimism, but I do not. The up-coming mid-term elections will be key, as will the 2004 elections. DO NOT VOTE FOR ANY THIRD PARTY CANDIDATE NO MATTER HOW ATTRACTIVE. Support main party candidates who support a pro-gun agenda even if just a bit better than the opposition. We have to have Republican control of the Senate for Supreme Court and federal bench appointments. A weak pro-gun Republican is better than a totally anti-gun Democrat.
If the ban ends, I expect that prices will drop a little for people who just want shooters and are willing to accept the products of all the clone makers who will try to fill the demand. For those who still want the "real" thing, the prices will stay pretty firm. After all, right now, one can find a pre-ban AR-15 Colt for under $1500, and a new Colt clone will run $800 and up. If the ban dies in 2004, maybe the pre-bans will drop to $1200, but the new "assault weapons" will probably be priced at $1000, not much difference. If Colt does not remove the large pins and block after the ban dies, I see cannot see that the demand for pre-ban Colts without those silly features will lessen.
