Sig or Glock

I am thinking of getting another 9mm pistol soon, and I can't decide between a Glock or a Sig. If I get a Glock, it will be the smallest one (I believe its a 26), and if I get a Sig, it will be the standard 226. Forgive me if I'm off with the numbers.

My Number one consideration is reliability. I'm also interested in price info. Any input is appreciated.

Go Sig. I have a 226 in 9mm and can't say a bad word about it. Reliable, super-easy take down, accurate. They are a bit pricey, but you can probably find a gently used one for a good price if you look. That's the route I'm going for my next Sig, a 229. I've shot Glocks and they just don't do it for me. Although I've only shot the full size, I find the minis and compacts don't fit my hand well at all.

Of course I would say Sig, but the glock and sig have very different ergonomics,I would suggest you try each one to see which feels and points better for your style and grip.I can't shoot a glock as well as a sig,the glock for me tends to point to low where a sig is very natural and balanced for my type of shooting. Go to a range and try for yourself to see which is better for you, good luck and let us know what you choose,by the way the Sig P-239 is very concealable and comes in 9mm, and shoots as well as the 226 and 229...

Well you might save a few dollars getting a Glock, but unless you really like the gun's feel and features (I have a compact one in .40 and like it plenty so I'm not biased), you would probably be better off with a SIG. My P226 is impressively accurate and reliable--I shoot so well with it that I'd have to say it's one of the very best.

If you can, rent both of them and then decide. (Shoot 'em separate as one is rather different in personality than the other) Nothing is as unique as one's shooting preference.

The best compliment I can pay the Glock is that I'd buy one over the more expensive HK USP and I'd feel well protected with it. The SIG just feels, works and responds better for my tastes if I had to choose.

FWIW, if you go compact, get a .40. If you're stuck with 10 or less rounds, having more muscle in each might make a real difference if you need to protect yourself.

Just got through running 200 rnd's though a Sig 239 & a glock 33 "baby Glock". Neither had any problems. The Sig was more accurate and felt better to me. The glock however was nice also, but its alittle small for my hands. The glock did tend to bite the top of my thumb. In any case both are in 357 Sig, and a hoot to shoot! That being said I have never had any problem out of a Glock, yep their ugly but they do work. The Sig's I have shot stand on their own, kinda Like a Benelli shotgun.

What are you going to use it for? I'd say that they are equally reliable. I've seen some good deals on 226's in shotgun news. If you thinking of concealed carry you may look into the 226's smaller brother the 228.

If you just looking for a tie breaking decision, I'd say go with the 226, because you can't ever have enough full-size handguns. Though the glock will be equally reliable and accurate, but I don't know why you'd want the smallest one, and your other option is a full size 226, that just doesn't make any sense to me.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

Sig all the way! Glocks are great too, but you will not be dissapointed with the 226. Lee has a point though, it does not make sense when you are comparing a full size to a compact. It's already two different breeds in mfr, now it's two different breeds in size.
Anyway, Sig gets my vote. GD

I know it sounds wierd, but I don't have a full size 9mm, and I do have a compact 9mm that for sentimental reasons I don't want to carry.

I'll admit that I am no fan of the way that the Glock looks, but I love the way a Walther PPK/s looks and I have had nothing but heartache with it.

I figure if the consensus is Sig, I'll get the big one, and I'm big enough that if I go IWB for carry, it is ok; That's how I carry auto pistols anyway. If the consensus is Glock, I'll get the smallest one; it still holds 10, and will be easier to carry, and without the "sentimental" attachment, I won't feel bad about wear and scratches.

I know the logic isn't much, but there it is.

You would be well served with either firearm. I have a Glock 26 and really like it. It is an interesting gun to get used to due to the short grip which only allows two fingers on and the little finger curled under. Mine has been totally reliable and accurate.

If there is any way to shot both, that will make the decision much easier. Again I do not believe you would be short changed with either one, so pick the one that feels best in your hands.

    Good luck with your choice.

I guy I met at the range showed me his Glock and said that he felt it made a big difference when he got the little "pinky extension" for the magazine. Personally, I just don't like the look of Glocks, but that's obviously a bad way to make a choice unless you're mainly getting it for fun. In that case, looks do count for something.

    JGreen,

You say you like the look and I would assume feel, of thge Walther PPK/S. Try a Sig P232. Very similar in look to the Walther. Although I do find the grip is wider than the PPK.
