What to do with my 10/22???

I have a 10/22. It has that Assult look. But it has lost its appeal. I would much rather have a target 10/22. So i'd like to build one. But my dilema then is what to do with mine. I really have no desire to completely strip my 10/22 down to the reciever and build up a costly target rifle on it because it is scratched and dinged. (i dont want to put all new parts on a scratched reciever). If i'm gonna do it i wanna do it right!
Soooooo...here is where you all come in?
First of all....it is a...
~Std. Blue 10/22
~Tasco Silver Antler 3-9x32mm scope
~ruger rings
~ruger scope mount
~Butler Creek Stainless Folder
~quick mag release
~other then the scratches and nick on the receiver it is in excellent shape!
~(btw...i paid $120 for it when i was like 16)
The guy at my sporting goods store told me he could give me between $100 and $120 for it. But that is WITHOUT the folding stock and mag release!!! I would then try and sell the folding stock seperatly and keep the mag release for the target rifle.....
OR should i just try and sell the whole thing for like $200?
I would then put the money from the 10/22, the folder, and another item i just sold toward a new 10/22, a nice scope, hogue stock, and heavy barrel. Am i a fool for doing this????? or should i take the receiver to gunsmith and see if he can fix the damage to the receiver? and then just keep the folder and build off my current receiver? There is some blueing that has rubbed off and there is a small ding next to the shell ejection port.
So whats your opinion???
Thanks

**It is your right to posess a firearm. In case of questions, please refer to ammendment 2, United States Constitution.**
I would suggest you sell the folding stock with the rifle. It is worth more that way. If my understanding of the law is correct, it would be illegal to put a folder on a newer 10/22.
The topic of putting a folding stock on a new 10/22 has be descussed time after time. IT IS NOT ILLEGAL TO PUT A FOLDING STOCK ON A NEW 10/22.
Also my advice would be to part everything and sell it seperate to get the most money out of it. Just a general rule of thumb, though there are always exceptions to the rule.
If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.
The sound of a 12 gauge pump clears a house fatser than Rosie O eats a Big Mac !
Wouldn't that, according to that BS law, be making it an "assault" weapon?
