I have a Savage 32 semi auto with a patent date of Nov. 21, 1905. Every ad I have seen for these have been for model 1907. Is this the same gun? Is this the same model the military tested and rejected in 1905? It is in excellent condition with only some minor pitting on the barrel, however nothing that damages the integrity of the weapon. Any idea as to value?

The original design for the Savage automatic is that of E.H. Searle of Philadelphia whose first two patents were filed 1903 and 1904 and both granted on November 21, 1905..
Altho unsuccessful in acquiring adoption of the Savage in the Government Trials c. 1907 through 1911, the First Military version of the Automatic spawned the popularly accepted Pocket Models that were marketed for many years.
Model 1907 .32 Caliber Pocket Auto; open Hammer. Made c. 1907 t0 1926. Total quantity estimated at 209,791. Ten-shot magazine. Manufatured By Savage Arms Co./Utica,N.Y. U.S.A. Pat. Nov. 21, 1905.. There were several Early Production Types, and changes were made as production increased...You'll have to research your own Gun as you have to be able to compare features against known differances in the Models as production increased and I don't have the Gun or the Time to research it for you...But I can give you the name of a book that will help you...Flayderman's Guide to American Antique Firearms...The information it contains will keep you busy for a few days....Best.....

According to all my information the 1907 is the same gun as the 1905, then there was the 1915, which had the grip safety, and the 1917 had an external hammer,

My info values these between 100.00 and 300.00 depending on condition
