Anybody ever hear of one? Special issue or custom shop? Post series 70 gun w/polished blue slide and a nickle/polished stnls (didn't get a chance to check)frame. I seem to remember an Ultimate series in Colt revolvers ,but not 1911s, from the custom shop. Any help out there?

The problem is that Colt would make special production guns for anyone that had the money to pay for it. So there are a variety of guns out there that were made by Colt yes, but were never catalogued and put into the Blue Book. Consequently the value can be somewhat subjective. I currently have a standard 70 series Colt Commander .45acp in nickel for sale. It is in the book, so it is easy to discern a value, other special production ones can be a problem.

There was a Colt Commander that was made in 1998 only that had a blued slide and stainless frame, upsept grip safety, lightweight trigger, and Hogue grips. The suggested retail was $813. Used values start in the mid $600's and go down from there depending on condition.

irarmsx, thanks for the reply. Yesterday was my birthday and my lovely wife purchased and gave it to me for a present. Lord, I love that woman.

I realized about the limited runs to anyone with enough money. I just never ran across one quite like this. Was hoping someone else had. Further info: Mk IV series 80, Ribbed royal blue slide, Polished stainless frame, Extended (but not upswept) grip safety, Relieved frame, 3 dot sights, smooth exotic wood grips w/silver Colt medallion, 98%+ condition. This thing is shiney enough to even catch Saxon Pig's eye.

The gun sounds great, but your wife is the real treasure!

UPDATE: Just got off of phone with Colt. Found out it was made in 91, was a Custom Shop gun with a run of 300 guns. At least it was not one of the many distributor Special Editions.
