i am looking for information and valuation and mfg. date on:winchester mdl. 1866. pat. mar. 29 1866. s#286135 B ? the looks like a mistamp or an L3. this is marked 38 cal. and has a round barrel that is short maybe only 16 or 18 inches. it is in fair condition with very little rust and a loty of patina. the bore is very good and rest is in 60/70% has wood stock with cleaning equip. storage in end of stock. any help woud be appreciated. Your serial # is beyond the mdl 66 range. The mdl 66 end at approx. 170100. You have a mdl 73, and it should be marked on the upper tang as "Model 1873".
You should measure the barrel from the rear most part of the barrel to the muzzle. It was manufactured in 1889. To go any further for a value on it, there are a lot of variables that will determine that. Does it have a saddle ring on it? You could try posting a decent picture of it.
