Refinish an ugly p229

Looking at a local sig p229 that has had a bling/bubba treatment. What would be the best way to get this back to a decent looking pistol? The trigger, slide release, etc have been polished and the slide has been duracoated black.
Some thoughts.
1. Take the durcoat off the slide and polish the slide.
2. Refinish entire pistol in cerakoat / duracoat
3. Just replace chromed parts with aftermarket or oem replacements?

Which is it?
From the looks of that beat-to-hell firing pin positioning pin Bubba also got in there and monkeyed with the slide assembly.
This one begs for a thorough examination.
