According to the S & W book, less than 5,000 from the end of production run in the late 60's. My WAG 1966, give or take a couple of years.

EDIT #1, According to the reference data in the "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson". The pre model 33's Regulation Police, and post 1957, Model 33's. Were made between 1949 & 1969 with a total of 68,203 made.

The post war series of which your gun is one ran from 1949 to 1974. There were 68,204 Mod 33's made during that 25 yr period. That figures to be about 2,728 per year. Since your gun is 4,344 from the end of the run, and assuming the average 2,728 per year, your gun should have been made "about" 1972-73.

    Rufe...........

My data is from The Standard Catalog page 206 under model 33 heading. It shows the post war models being made from 1949 to 1974. serial number range from 54474 to 122678.

Data on page 148 indicates they were made from 49 to 69. Looks like the book contradicts itself a bit.
