Loose Stock Norinco ATD 22

Greetings all. I just bought a NIB Norinco ATD 22, and like the man said, it's like a Browning Auto 22. BUT, not JUST like it. The stock is a little loose, so I took the butt plate off and low and behold, no bolt to tighten like the Browning has.
Anybody know how to tighten the stock?

That is a magazine tube that is threaded on both ends. One end screws into the reciever, the other has a castle nut, that tightens down on the stock. Here is a page for you to look at. You will need a spanner wrench, most likely.

Last time I had this problem was on a S & W Model 622 barrel nut. I wound up making one out of a fender washer of the correct thickness. Drilled and dremeled a 5/16 hole in it for the correct center clearance. Used a Vice Grip on the washer as leverage for tightening the nut.
The socket says 1 1/2 x 3/16. Is that the correct size to take the castle nut off the atd 22?
The castle nut has two recesses in the end of it, opposing 180 degrees from each other. The exact size does not matter as long as it will fit in the void, and the two protrusions, fit the slots/recesses in the castle nut well. You must take care not to damage the castle nuts recesses, as that also, is what the magazine follower locks into. You also have to keep the slot in the side of the tube lined up with the slot in the side of the stock, where you load it. For what it is worth, it would be a 5 minute job for a qualified gunsmith, and you will not have to ruin any of your sockets.

Thanks much.

No idea what size this is.
If you wanted to do it this way, its probably best to just get a box of different socket wrench bits and see which size drops in to fit before grinding. You can pick up a whole box for only a few bucks at a place like Harbor Freight or Walmart.
Alternatively, depending on how long the opening in question is, you may be able start with a wide bladed screwdriver, or even a cheap table knife blade, then flatten the end and grind a notch into it to get the same effect.
If you're going to do this, you do have to be careful to match the width of your impromptu knife/tool with the slot widths so you don't damage the slots. That's a lot easier to do with the nut in question out of the gun rather than in it (ie wiggle it out first, if you can, then fit your tool, then use the tool to get it nice and snug).
Also if this thing does regularly work itself loose, I'd consider take out the nut and putting some blue locktite or other reversible sticky stuff on there to reduce the chance of that happening.
