Did Winchester ever make the model 60 in 22 short only ? I had a guy call last night telling me he had one and wanted to know if I would be interested in it ? I could not find anything on a short only rifle and before I wasted much time on it I was going to ask you experts [:)]

all my books show s l lr it would have to be seen and all markings present not show reblue..most single shot were made to handle all 3 22 loads in that time but ya never know..if a short only gun the rifling would be 1-29 spin

Never say never when it comes to Winchester. However, the Model 60 is generally considered chambered for .22 Short, Long and Long Rifle and so marked. One possible explanation is that the barrel markings has "MODEL 60 - 22 SHORT" on the top line, the "LONG & LONG RIFLE" marking is below that. Perhaps he is misreading the barrel marking.
