Sling stud positioning

I'm getting ready to put sling studs on my Ruger 10/22 so I can put a 1" wide military style sling on it.
Is there a standard as to where to mount the studs?
Like so far from the end of the butt stock or towards the end of the fore arm?
Any help?

Keep your Powder dry and your Musket well oiled.

Thanks, it says 13 - 17" from trigger.
13" is my only option when following their instructions.

You want the rear one about 2-3 inches from the end of the butt.
Front sling mount is a little more variable depending on the gun in question, personal preference, etc, but you want it far enough away from the center of gravity of the gun so that when its actually slung, it sits put and doesn't wobble much. 13-17" in front of the trigger sounds reasonable to me.
With a 10-22 in particular, if you still have the factory stock setup, you'll get a cleaner look if you mount the front of the sling to the barrel band: EG:

But you can mount the front stud anywhere along the bottom of the forearm you like. EG:
