I have one of these rifle and they are very good shooters. The trouble with finding a bolt for these rifles are that they are getting older and the parts are going to be getting harder and harder to find. Savage made quite a few different Models of the the 3 and some others that are very close to your rifle and that is good news. I had an old Marlin that took four years to come up with a bolt and it was worth waiting. Try the want add section on this forum to see if someone has a bolt for you.

I 2nd this. It also took me 2 years to find bolt parts for early 1st model 3. And when I found it, I found a complete bolt here on GB listed and mis Id as a Mossberg bolt. The auctions here are likely your best bet. Be patient but diligent. Your part IS out there. You just have to find it.
My tips are. Familiarize yourself with needed parts to the extent that you can ID it by sight. Find someone who has one (in person or online) and get detailed pics. Many times people don't know what the parts they are selling are. Think out of the box in your searches. Imagine EVERY possible way to describe it. And search accordingly. It may be listed correctly, or as just "Savage/Stevens bolt". Or just ".22 rifle bolt". Or maybe mis Id as some other model.
On the aside. I had an old fairly rare but not particularly valuable Mossberg .22 single shot that I needed a bolt for. After 5 years of searching w/no results, I finally sold the rifle. A month later a bolt turned up. [:(]

Now you're on the right track. Finding older gun parts is getting increasingly difficult. Largely due to the internet. People have more/better access to values/parts/repair info on their old guns. And are home repairing more than ever before. Also, instead of selling their old broken guns to parts vendors such as Numrich Arms for pennies on the dollar. They are using auction websites such as GB to sell them themselves for true market value.
Your best bet at finding your bolt will be on internet auction websites, or gunshow parts vendors. And step ONE is to familiarize yourself with the bolt so that you can ID it on sight. With the knowledge that many of the sellers may not know exactly what it is (IE: Make/model). Think "out of the box" in your searches. Imagine every possible way to describe it. And perform your searches accordingly using each of them. Patience and diligence is key. Your bolt IS out there. You just have to find it. I've had parts that it took me 2 years to find.
