Iver Johnson M-1 Carbine SS

Can the gas block on an Iver Johnson Stainless Steel be re-welded to the barrel assembly. Original barrel the gas piston/block cracked off the barrel. Thanks

    I would watch for a GI barrel or Commerical and replace the broken one rather than try to repair it. You might be able to find a smith that can silver solder the gas cylinder back on but most will tell you to rebarrel it.

    i had the same proble with a m-1 carbine years ago and had it silver soldered with no problems at all.

    Thanks for the info.. Called iver Johnson and GI barrels won't fit.. Im going to try the silver solder route.. Thanks

    The current Iver Johnson has nothing to do with the Iver Johnson that made your carbine. My bet is that GI barrels will work. The stainless IJs were GI spec. Mine is.
    That said, try to find someone who wil silver solder yours.
