Just picked up an Indian Made Enfield- you know the one with the square boxy mag underneath. Dealer says it is chambered in .308. Is that the case with all of these or are some in .303 like their earlier Brit cousins?

jonk - As far as I know the Ishapore Enfield 2A's & 2A1's were chambered in .308. Mine is marked on the band under the bolt handle "Rifle 7.62mm 2A1 F.R.I. 1967". And the old girl really likes the Hirtenberger .308 that Sothern Ohio Gun is selling for a real good price. If you want to find out more about your Ishy e-mail me at bellers@outdrs.net & I'll send you to a forum that deals specifically with milsurp rifles (& has a good Ishy link on the page), don't think the good folks at G.B. will let me post it here - even though it's not a competitor.Bob
