Well, I don't know about "reliable", but there's only 1 "blue book"; that's the one by S. Fjestad, available through www.bluebookinc.com or other dealers. It's probably the most widely used general pricing/ID guide; however, it doesn't reflect sufficient detail or up-to-date pricing of specialized areas to satisfy the needs of serious collectors.Neal[This message has been edited by nmyers (edited 03-04-2002).]

American, before you rush out to buy a blue book, be aware that they are published in April. All you can get now is last years, so wait a month or two and get this years version.

Also Modern gun values. Amazon.com is cheaper for the Standard Catalog, including shipping, than the local sources.

Consult at least three different books. Take the average of the three & add 20% & use that as your starting price if you are selling. You can always come down in price but it sure is hard to go up.

Flayderman's "Book of Antique Firearms Values" is good for the oldies.

I use S.P. Fjestad's "Bluebook", Military Firearms by Ned Schwing and Gun Traders Guide. I cross reference all three and then decide if I want to go any higher.
