7mm-08

Any feedback from you on 7mm-08 vs .308.

Most likely if getting the 7mm I'll be hand loading.
(no I don't have a manuel....and an aquantance will be doing the loading since he's done that for 22 years now)

Is there much difference in ballistics? Exspecially down range.

Thank You!

Does anyone know why none of the BIG THREE offer this caliber in their heavy varmint rifles? The laminated stocks and medium heavy barrels make these a natural for silhouetta but the 6mm has proven too light and the 308 is a little much.

Would like to hear from those that shoot the 7mm-08. I am thinking of getting the 15 inch 7mm-08 for my T/C Encore and try handgun hunting this fall. It's in the final three of my choices. Thanks.

I am shooting the Remington 140 grain bullet. Whitetail deer at 300 yards would be the longest shot. What would be a good way to sight in this rifle?

The ONLY reason the 7mm08 exist, is because on the books a 7mm projectile has the best ballistic coefficient than anyother round. And Silhuoette shooter wanted every edge there is to do better shooting. "WALLA" ...the 7mm08, but that's on paper ...been my experience that it's over rated. I stick with the "plain ole .308" ...Mark

The 7mm-08 is my favorite cartridge for deer.I have a rem. mdl. 7 that consistantly groups 3/4" at 100 yds. with factory 140 gr.rem. core lokts. So far i have taken 6 deer with it.They have all been 1 shot kills, from 20 to 260 yds.Great accuracy,Very light recoil,Great stopping power.I can see no reason to use anything else.

I have a two year old Winchester Model 70 Featherweight Classic in 7mm-08 topped with a Weaver Grand Slam 32mm 1.5-5X. The worst group ever with factory ammo is 1.25". Much smaller groups with reloads. I believe this represents the peak of the current Model 70's. Winchester and Browning are both owned by same parent company and share some technologies, are not the same company.

My experienced is much like Single Shot's. My Remingtn Mod 7 in 7-08 consistantly shoots 1" at 100 yds with 140 gr factory ammo. Taken two deer with one shot the last two years. It's light, short, weather proof (SS) and kills convincingly. One old timer in my club sold his old 257 Roberts and got one like mine.

I have a Model 70 Classic Featherweight, and it is one beautiful rifle. I haven't fooled around with many different loads for it but shoot a 130 Speer boat-tail. Groups around an inch, nothing special but I don't care.In 2000, I shot a small buck at 316 steps. He jumped in the air, kicked out his hind legs. When he hit the ground he spun in a circle and fell dead. That is all the accuracy and power anyone needs on whitetails. If you want a short, light, handy and powerful firearm for deer, you found it. I like the Model 7, but the stock was a little short for me.KC

I am a die hard remington 700 man, BUT, I have a browning medallion 7mm08 and it is wonderful. It touches bullets at 100yds with federal 140 balistics and is my go-to gun for any woods or short field hunt. Light, fast to come up, and accurate. I havn't done much with the model 7, but, if it is anything like my 700's, I would say it is wonderful as well.
