I have a Ruger #1 in 45-70 Loaded it to max with a 405 grain slug and 3031 powder, Kicked about twice as hard as my 338 win Mag. Would not want to shoot a 416 in one, You must be built like king Kong to handel that recoil. My Leupole scope went bad on the 45-70 try B and L scope it may hold togeather, GOOD LUCK

I had a Leupold 1 X 4 on both my Ruger #1 and RSM in 416 Rigby. Have used the #1 for Grizzly hunting quite successfully.

I had both a 3x9 leupold and a 4x10 redfield on my 300 weatherby when I was up in Alaska. The leupold is the way to go! A solid scope, just my opinion ...Mark

Agree, Leupold is the way to go. 1x4 or 2x7, 3x9 is upper limit.Boomer

For the kick on your rifle I recommend a Kick-EEZ Pad. It really does help with recoil.

Using 98gr of RL-22 behind a hornaday 400gr roundnose, I find the recoil pushes me around but dosn't beat me up (standing) But bumping it up to the max of 100gr now that is a different story, it hurts ! (this is wearing nothing more than a T-shirt, I'm 5'9 180 lb)BTW in my rifle 98gr yeilds 2390fps never chroned the 100's
