I have this gun and would like to know the vaule of it. It is a Smith & Wesson and is stamped with mass. It is a .22 cal short it breaches from the bottom up to the top, it also has a stop sign barrell and a rod under the barrell to push the casing out of the chaber. It has rose wood handle and is in great condition. It has the modle # 40783 on it. I have found one article on this gun but not to much on the value of it. In this article it states that if the modle number is less than 11670 that they are probably First Issues. If you know of any collectors who will help me determine the value of this gun, I would appricate it. Thank you.

If your gun is a 1st issue with a 3 1/4 inch barrel, with a round side plate, I would guess around $1500 depending on condition.Could be worth a lot more or less depending on condition.
