Owner of a gun shop remarked to me that the "Glazer Safety ammo" is, "the only stuff he'd use for personal protection". Is this ammo worth the HIGH price ? Thanks in advance Scott.

I'm no expert but I would say NO. I would rather just use Federal or some other popular brand name.

If you do not want over penitration the Glassers are great. Safety meaning that you probably will not shoot some one and have the round pass through them and hit some one sleeping in the next room.

Glazer ammo is a plastic shell stuffed with lead shot! Once it hits something it starts coming apart and looses it's penetration. Something you might want to think about if you live in an apartment or condo. It'll do a job on anything it initially hits. So if your thinking personal protection, this is the way to go! Unless you live on a farm with the nearest neighbor 5 miles away.Good Luck! ...Mark

It is good, BUT, buy enough of it to make sure it works well with your gun, especially if you're using an automatic. That's expensive!I normally DO NOT use it in my primary defense guns only because of the powder blend used; when combined with the +P loading, it creates a massive amount of muzzle flash. If you have to fire at night--the most common scenario in a self-defense situation--you'll be left half blinded.I like Cor-Bon ammo since I've found they use a powder blend which REALLY controls muzzle flash.

I have been told by people selling ammo at gun shows, that the glaser is not accurate past a few feet. I don't know that for a fact, and would like to hear from others on it. Anyway, thats' why I haven't bought any myself.Eric

It is just as accurate as a normal bullet. When I first got my 45 I took it fishing to do some target practice in case the fish weren't biting. Took some Glasers to check cycling. Fired 6 at a hollow stump sticking 2ft out of the water about 35ft away. It hit where I aimed and cycled fine.

I bought one of those little packages of it, shot it, worked fine, wasn't impressed.Honestly sounds to me like he's just trying to sell you the stuff to he can make his money off it.Personally when it comes to buying factory ammo, I usually buy winchester. Its cheaper than the federal, but more importantly, I like the way it performs in MY gun.The Glaser safety slug stuff is a specialty ammo. Like CCI rat shot. If you NEED it buy it, if you don't NEED it then look at your other options. If you'd ask Clint at Thunder Ranch what he thinks about Glaser safety ammo, he probably say throw that junk away and buy some FMJ ammo, then learn to shoot your gun...

So what did we all do before the messiah, uh Glazer came around?Find some gelatin tests for your calibre and get a hollow point that exands rapidly and penetrates about ten inches or so. I don't think the Glazer is SOOOOOO much better it justifies the cost, don't get me wrong, it appears effective, but so does the Winchester Silver Tip, the Hydrashock, and most expanding bullets for that matter.I agree with leeblackman- if ya hit him where yer supposed to, the bullet matters little.Cheers

We chronographed a few rounds of the .357 once. Granted, the projectile is quite a bit lighter than any lead/copper one but, they really scream. We got +1900 fps.

I've kept Glassers in my house gun for years. I have ne desire to shoot someone in my neighbors house or the next room. It is like a shotgun cup full of shot. It makes a big gaping wound but doesn't over penetrate. It is expensive but you don't need to buy a lot of it.
