i have springfield 1911-a1 it has a "NM" below the slide next to serial number and on the magazine what is "NM?"

    well i am not sure what "target" means but it has fixed sights and a wilson barrel {its a used gun but 95%}for some reason but it says "springfield armory geneso il usa NM815XX" i thought the springfield armory was in mass. also has a very light trigger pull and has the skeleton trigger and the "hollow" hammer.[This message has been edited by jdb123 (edited 03-08-2002).]

    There is a Springfield Arsonal in Mass. it's a govt facility.There is also a Springfield Armory in IL, that one is a private company, they also make the civilian M-14's among other things

    The Springfield Armory in Springfield, MA, was a U.S. Government armory and arsenal from 1797 to 1968. It is now a museum and National Historic Site.
