AR15 7.62x39 whisperer?

If i wanted to put together an ar15 upper to use 300 whisper cartridges, what parts would be changed from a standard 223? i know the barrel and bolt need to be changed, but what else if anything. and am i correct and thinking it would be a 7.62X39 bolt and barrel? i apologize for my ignorance, and thank anyone who may help.[This message has been edited by game_pawn (edited 03-08-2002).]

    Contack SSK industries- they developed the cartridge and conversions I believe. They run ads in shotgun news but I don't know the website address.

    If my ageing memory serves me correctly, the 300 Whisper was a .221 Remington fireball case that had been necked-up to hold a .30 caliber bullet. Kinda looks strange but it is supposed to be the cats * when used with a sound suppressor.

    The 300 Whisper has the head size of the 221 Fireball which is the same as the 223. Whisper cases can be made from 223 cases. There are several different companies selling 300 Whisper barrels & dies and ammo is now being made commercially. Type 300 whisper into your search engine and see what comes up.If it doesnt find anything then type in ILOR.
