Win Mod 12 probs

I came across a Win Mod 12 pump in 12ga Mod. It's in good cosmetic shape and they want $150 for it. The problem it has is with the slide release. The gun pumps fine and the trigger works; I can hear and feel the hammer release, but the forearm won't slide unless you push the relase button even after you fire it. Is this an easy fix? Is this an inexpensive fix?

You snooze you loose! I went into the Pawn Shop at lunch to take a look at it. The gun sold at 10am. Too bad for me.

rballi: your right!! sounds like it was a very good buy. the release problem you mentioned should have a very inexpensive fix. probably just a cleaning problem. i would like to find a bunch of them in that price range. sorry. CARL

Years back I had a bunch of these in the Army both riot and sporting versions. This aggravating feature gave me a bad feeling about Model 12s that's lasted for 50 years. I believe the gun has to actually fire a shell to unlatch the bolt lock. Unless you're a collector, there are smoother, better handling, less expensive pump guns out there like the Remingtons and Ithaca 37.

If you had moved the slide handle incrementally forward after dropping the hammer, the slide would then have come back smoothly. When firing, this happens automatically in recoil.

If it requires more than just a little movement, it is still just a minor adjustment.

Too bad you missed it. That would probably be an easy fix.
